The clock looks elegant and minimalist on my beside. The backlight works well and the chime is a delightfully relaxing sound to wake to. They nailed the design all around on this one.

One star removed for the power situation. The manual says that only the original power supply can be used. I'm not sure why this is - maybe the device is not compliant with the USB spec. In any case, given the focus on "right to repair" and sustainability, the inability to replace the power supply with a commodity USB adapter is disappointing.

Okay, so it's more expensive than what you'd expect for a simple alarm clock, but then again, it's simplicty is deceiving. It does everything you'd want it to do exactly the way you'd want it to do it. And the wakeup chime: The way it begins with a soft tone, then gets louder, then softer, then louder still. It's very pleasent. I have yet to hear my wife yell at me to turn that f'ckg thing off, like she did with my old alarm clock. And the clock, with it's metal housing, has a satisfying heft to it. It feels like something made back when quality was important, yet it has some subtle modern touches like a digital readout to set the clock, with an analog face to note the time. After experiencing this clock, I bought a second one to give to my daugher.

this is the best damn clock I’ve ever owned in 60 years of being on planet Earth. It is unbelievably solidly built and even the way in which it wakes you up from a slow baritone sound over and over which increasingly yield more and more traction for waking up is incredible. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase and I am so happy I bought it.
